Where the noise of the world falls away and the quiet of the heart begins to speak.
Dear Fellow Traveler,
You have arrived at a threshold. This is not a place of rigid expectation, frantic performance, or the heavy weight of being known only by your titles, your productivity, or your tasks. It is a sanctuary where the ancient warmth of the hearth meets the winding, sacred wisdom of the path. Whether you are navigating a season of intense transition, wrestling with spiritual questions that no longer fit in old boxes, or tending the quiet ache of a soul seeking its true home, you are welcome here, exactly as you are.
Wherever you are in this moment, walking through a familiar landscape, resting in a moment of stolen quiet, or simply pausing to read these words, know that you are not here by accident. Beneath the surface noise of modern life, a profound remembering is taking place. It is a quiet but persistent drawing back toward what is sacred, what is real, and what is enduringly alive within the fabric of our existence. We are often told to look forward with anxiety or backward with regret, but here, we look inward with curiosity and outward with wonder.
Sacred Hearth Pathways was born from a simple but holy intention: to offer grounded, compassionate spiritual care for the journey of healing and alignment with the holy rhythms of creation. If you are navigating the liminal space between inherited religion and your own lived truth, balancing the weight of sincere belief with the necessity of doubt, you do not have to walk this path alone. There is a deep dignity in the wandering, and a profound grace in the search for a spirituality that is both intellectually honest and spiritually deep.
In this space, we tend the Hearth. Throughout human history, the hearth has been the sacred center: a place of shared nourishment, the passing down of stories, and a sheltering presence against the cold. Spiritually, it represents that inviolable inner sanctuary where the inclusive grace of the living Christ meets the wild wisdom of the earth and the deep mysteries of the soul. Here, the Divine Spark is not a distant light, but a fire tended with reverence, offering a warmth that does not consume but illuminates the truth of who you are. This is the place where we come to be warmed after a long journey in the wilderness, rediscovering the light that has been burning within us all along.
We also honor the Pathways. This is not a paved road toward a fixed, predictable destination, but a living, spiraling path. Growth is rarely linear; we often find ourselves circling back to old wounds, not to repeat the pain, but to meet them with new wisdom and fresh perspective. This path isn’t about fixing yourself or achieving a state of spiritual perfection that leaves no room for your humanity. It is about attuning to the sacred wonder and wisdom already alive within you, rooted in the rich, dark soil of your own soul. It is about learning to trust the timing of your own unfolding, much like the forest trusts the slow turn of the seasons.
Our work draws from deep, ancient wells. We hold the teachings and sayings of Jesus as a lens of profound love and radical inclusion, looking to the way of the Christ as a model of fierce commitment to wholeness. We are anchored by the contemplative quiet of the Desert Mothers and Fathers, whose wisdom recognized that we must often retreat from the noise of empire to hear the still, small voice within. Alongside this, we embrace the earth-honoring wisdom of the Celtic tradition, viewing the natural world as a primary sacred text. The turning of the seasons and the thin places of the earth remind us that the physical and spiritual are forever intertwined in a vibrant tapestry of mystery and enchantment.
Yet, we do not look backward out of a sense of nostalgia. We believe that true flourishing requires a bridge. We seek to integrate the enduring wisdom of the past with the vital knowledge and lived experience of the present. By bringing the deep insights of ancient contemplative traditions into conversation with our modern understanding of the human heart, the mind, and the complex systems of our world, we find the tools to meet the unique challenges of this moment.
For those who wish to explore the deeper theoretical and spiritual foundations of this work, I invite you to read The Theology and Process of Transformational Flourishing.
“Life is this simple: we are living in a world that is absolutely transparent and the divine is shining through it all the time.”
Thomas Merton
“I am the Light that is over all things. I am all: from me all came forth, and to me all attained. Split a piece of wood; I am there. Lift up the stone, and you will find me there.”
The Gospel of Thomas
“Wholeness is not achieved by cutting off a portion of one’s being, but by integration of the contraries.”
Carl Jung
When we speak to this “Divine,” we are speaking to the presence woven through all creation: the universal Christ consciousness pulsing in the forest, in the breath, in the stranger, and in the depths of your own being. This transparency isn’t just a theological concept; it has been the grounded reality of my life. Growing up in the Midwest, I learned that flourishing is a slow, seasonal work. It is as much about enduring the long, silent winters, where everything looks dormant but is actually gathering strength beneath the frost, as it is about celebrating the sudden, vibrant spring that eventually breaks through the soil.
Several years ago, my life entered its own profound winter when I began a new chapter of permanent dependence on a wheelchair. In the midst of that unmaking, as the structures of my previous life were stripped away and my understanding of my own body was completely reshaped, I found that I was not abandoned by the sacred. Beneath the upheaval and the grief, I encountered a quiet, steady hearth of the heart that no circumstance could extinguish. This journey taught me that flourishing does not ask us to amputate the parts of ourselves that are messy, wounded, or limited. It does not wait for us to be “fixed” or to return to a state of being that no longer exists. Instead, true flourishing begins when we invite our exiled parts out of the dark to sit by the fire of compassion. It is from this place of wholeness, where our strengths and our limitations finally meet, that the life of the spirit truly flows.
Ordained to the ministry in 2005 and the priesthood in 2009, I have spent over twenty years offering pastoral presence, spiritual direction, and mentorship. These roles are not separate functions, but rather different ways of tending the same fire. Through spiritual direction, we look specifically for the subtle, often hidden movements of the Divine within the ordinary details of your life. In mentorship, we walk the winding path together, drawing on the map of ancient wisdom to help you find your footing when the way feels uncertain or the fog of transition rolls in. My approach is both mystical and embodied, born from the trust that the Divine is already at work within the places that ache and the places that hope. I do not offer easy answers, but I do offer a space where your questions are held with honor and your journey is viewed with reverence.
If you find yourself curious about the path of study and the gathered stones of preparation that support this work, I warmly invite you to explore my Formal Credentials and Written Works.
I invite you to explore, reflect, and linger. Sit by the fire for a while. If you have been reaching for more depth, honesty, and tenderness, consider this your invitation to arrive exactly as you are. You do not need certainty; you only need to be open to the mystery and the possibility of a life that flows from the inside out.
May you be cradled gently, steadied in spirit, and guided with warmth on the path ahead.
Warmly,
Casey
